Privacy and Data Handling

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how ExpenseEye collects, uses, stores, and protects information across the website, mobile app, and related services.

Effective date: March 26, 2026

ExpenseEye is a finance-tracking product that lets you manage accounts, transactions, budgets, recurring items, goals, referrals, and premium access. By using the service, you acknowledge that we need certain personal and product data to provide these features securely.

This page is intended to describe the current product behavior in clear language. It is not a substitute for legal advice, and you should update it if your data flows, vendors, or compliance obligations change.

Information We Collect

We collect the information needed to create your account and run the finance features you choose to use.

  • Account data such as your name, email address, authentication method, and profile photo when provided by you or your sign-in provider.
  • Finance data you add inside ExpenseEye, including profiles, accounts, balances, transactions, budgets, bills, goals, categories, referrals, and subscription state.
  • Technical and security data generated by your browser, device, or infrastructure providers, which may include IP address, device identifiers, browser type, access timestamps, and error logs.

How We Use Information

We use your data to operate the service you requested and keep the platform secure and reliable.

  • Create and maintain your account, sign you in, sync your data, and personalize the app across supported devices.
  • Generate dashboards, charts, reminders, referrals, and plan-access checks based on the information stored in your account.
  • Detect abuse, troubleshoot failures, respond to support issues, and improve performance, reliability, and security.

Cookies and Local Storage

The web app uses browser storage and session technologies to keep login, preferences, and redirects working correctly.

  • Authentication and session cookies are used to keep you signed in and secure your account.
  • Local storage may be used for UI preferences, referral state, pending redirects, and cached client-side settings needed for normal app behavior.
  • Where required, non-essential analytics and advertising storage is activated only after your consent choice is recorded through our cookie controls.
  • If you clear browser storage or block required cookies, parts of the sign-in flow and saved preferences may stop working until you sign in again.

Sharing and Service Providers

We only share information when it is necessary to provide the service or when required by law.

  • ExpenseEye relies on infrastructure and authentication providers such as Appwrite to host data, manage sessions, and enforce access controls.
  • If you choose Google sign-in, Google provides authentication details needed to complete your login.
  • We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose information when required to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect users and the service.

Security and Retention

We apply reasonable safeguards to protect your information and retain it only for legitimate operational purposes.

  • We use authenticated access controls, permission-scoped data storage, and encrypted network transport where supported by the platform.
  • Your data is retained while your account remains active and for as long as needed to resolve disputes, maintain security records, or satisfy legal and billing obligations.
  • No online system can guarantee absolute security, so you should also protect your device, password, and linked email account.

Your Choices and Policy Updates

You remain in control of the information you put into the product, and this policy may be updated as the service evolves.

  • You can update or remove much of your information from within the app where those controls are available.
  • If you need help with a privacy request, use the support or contact channel published on the official ExpenseEye website or inside the app.
  • When this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date. The current effective date is March 26, 2026.

We use first-party cookies for essential app functions and optional analytics/ads. You can choose to accept or reject non-essential cookies. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
